Italian Food in St. Louis

Pasta Plus

123 Concord Plaza

St. Louis, MO 63128

This is a casual Italian place that serves all of the Italian favorites.  They serve all of the usual favorites like, spaghetti, fettuccini and pizza.  At this place you order at the counter and they bring your food to you when it is ready.   Prices are reasonable, and they bring the food out fairly quick.   I had the baked mostaccioli and it cost about $6.50.  The mostaccioli came with a slice of provolone cheese baked on top.  I would eat at this place again, but I would try the pizza next time.

P’sghetti’s Pasta and Sandwiches

Phone: 314-849-5334

3340 Lindbergh Blvd

St. Louis, MO 63123

Psghetti’s Pasta and Sandwiches is a small family place in South County.  They are best known for their bread that has a little sweetness to it.  It is different but it makes their sandwiches and garlic bread taste so good.  This place has all of the Italian pasta favorites from, spaghetti, mostaccioli, garlic bread.  In addition to those they also have pizza bread, roast beef sandwiches, sub sandwiches, toasted raviolis, and much more.  P’sghetti’s is a place where you order at the counter and then  they will call your number when your food is ready. I ordered the hot roast beef sandwich with a side of au jus.  The bread makes this sandwich unlike any other roast beef sandwich.  The sandwich is very cheesy and very good.

Prices:  Prices are reasonable for the food you get.  An order of pasta is less than five dollars and you can get a side of garlic bread for a couple of bucks.  I recommend going to P’sghetti’s and getting something with the bread.

Cunetto House of Pasta—Feature Restaurant of the Week for July 15, 2007

5453 Magnolia Ave.

St. Louis, MO 63139

Cunetto House of Pasta is located in the heart of “The Hill” in St. Louis.   We arrived around 5:30 on a Saturday night.  Cunetto’s does not take reservations so we had to wait for an hour to be seated.  It was not a bad wait, there were tables outside available to sit and have a drink.  There was also a bar inside where they had cocktail waitresses serving drinks.  Once we had our table the service was very quick.

I had the toasted raviolis, house salad, and the fettuccini carbonara.  The toasted raviolis were just like any other toasted raviolis around St. Louis, but the meat sauce that came along with them was great.  The house salad was very good it had a house Italian dressing and was covered in prosciutto and fresh parmesan cheese, not the powder kind.  The best part was the Fettuccini Carbonara.  This was a ton of fettuccini pasta covered in a cream sauce and prosciutto.  The cream sauce was terrific.  It was buttery and creamy at the same time.  Since there was so much food the fettuccini was even better the next day.  I also had Linguini Tuto Mare.  This was a pile of linguine mixed with a butter sauce, crab, shrimp, clams, and shrimp.  This would be a seafood lovers dream.  The Tuto Mare is good, but I suggest ordering the Fettuccini Carbonara.

Prices:  Prices were not bad for what we had.  We had an appetizer , four beers, two salads, and two dishes of pasta, all for $50.  I recommend going to this place.  I can’t wait to go back again.

Imo’s Pizza—Multiple Locations, Find Locations

Imo’s Pizza is, and has been a St. Louis favorite for a long time.  They have other good food as well.  They have sandwiches, pasta, and salads.  They are a pizza place that serves Italian food.  Get the pizza at Imo’s, it is covered in whatever toppings you want and provolone cheese.  The provolone makes the pizza great.  The salads at Imo’s are not that good.  It seems like they use bag lettuce and pile the on the cheese.  The house salad dressing is not he best Italian dressing I have had either.  It is a sweet Italian , and I don't like sweet stuff on my salad.

Get the Pizza when you go to Imo’s that is the only thing worth getting, but it is one of the best pizzas in St. Louis

Fazoli's - Find a Location

I went to the Fazoli's on the St. Charles Rock Road the other day for lunch. Fazoli's is known as Italian fast food. The menu is filled with all of the Italian favorites, like pasta, pizza, salads, and they have some sandwiches. I have not been to Fazoli's for a long time and I remember it being good. Maybe it was the location that I had wrong. There were flies all around on the inside of the restaurant, and when I see that at a restaurant it really kills my appetite. And whatever happened to someone walking around with breadsticks. I had one breadstick and I ate it right away because I thought that someone would be around handing them out. That made me mad.

I ordered the rigatoni romano, because it was a new item and the picture looked good, and a salad. It was disappointing. The salad was fine, but the rigatoni romano did not taste as good as it looked, maybe because there were flies all around inside the restaurant, or maybe because I did not have any breadsticks to eat with my pasta. But the taste was unsatisfying and I was disappointed because I wanted a really good lunch. Oh well when I go back, it will not be to this location, and I am going to order a traditional favorite.

Prices:$8.01 for a pasta dish, salad and a drink

Macaroni Grill - Find a location

Macaroni Grill is an Italian joint that serves plenty of pasta and Italian combinations. Macaroni Grill is a chain restaurant, and I would compare it to Olive Garden and The Pasta House, but Macaroni Grill is a bit more expensive. We went to the Macaroni Grill in the Chesterfield Mall parking lot, and the place was pretty packed for lunch. The place has many different pasta, salad, and many other Italian dishes. On the tables are paper table cloths and crayons to draw on the paper table cloth.

A meal at Macaroni Grill starts off with a loaf of bread and some olive oil for dipping. The bread is covered in garlic and taste great with the pasta. I ordered the fettuccini alfredo. The fettuccini alfredo was served in a huge bowl and was covered in a cream sauce. The pasta was very good and the bread was perfect to soak up the extra sauce.

Prices: About $8 for a lunch serving of fettuccini alfredo
