Aerate and Overseed

I cannot stress enough how important it is to aerate and overseed in the fall.  Overseeding is one of the most important things you can do for your yard.  Overseeding will help thicken up your lawn and fill in bare spots in the grass.  During the stress of summer and the pounding a typical lawn takes the grass will eventually die.  It is important to replenish this dead grass with new seed each year to maintain a full healthy lawn.  St. Louis Lawn Care uses only the best grass seed when overseeding to ensure thick growth without weeds.

Lawn aeration is also crucial to a great looking lawn in St. Louis.  During the year the lawns soil gets compacted.  This compaction prevents air water and nutrients from reaching the roots of the lawn.  Lawn aeration breaks up the compaction in the soil to allow water, oxygen and nutrients direct access to the roots.

Call St. Louis Lawn Care today to schedule lawn aeration and overseeding.

Leaf Clean Up Time

It is about that time to start thinking about leaf clean ups.  Remove the leaves from your yard and flowerbeds so your grass can breath.  If the leaves are left on the lawn all winter the grass can be damaged and possibly die.

Many municipalities around the St. Louis area offer curbside leaf removal service and leaf vacuuming.  The only thing that you need to do is get the leaves to the curb.

St. Louis Lawn Care offers a leaf removal service.  We use the best most efficient equipment to remove the leaves from your property.  Call St. Louis Lawn Care today to schedule your leaf removal this fall.

Aeration and overseeding did wonders for yard

There is one particular yard that I aerated and overseeded a yard in Chesterfield about four weeks ago this year and it looks great.  The seed germinated because the ground was kept moist at all times.  At the beginning of the year the grass was thin and sparse.  I suggested a good fertilizer program and aeration and overseeding in the fall and now the grass is thick, green and healthy.  It is amazing how much a good fertilizer program and fall aeration and overseeding can help a yard.

I cannot stress enough how important watering the lawn is after overseeding.  The ground must stay moist at all times for the seed to germinate.  This involves watering three times a day for about 10 minutes.  And when the seed gets to about two inches water one time a day for about 30 minutes.

Your lawn should still be growing

Many yards have slowed down, or even stopped growing.   I have many yards around St. Louis that are still growing and many that have stopped.  A healthy lawn with a good fertilizer program should still be growing and should need weekly lawn mowing.  The warm weather will keep the grass out of the dormant stage and continue healthy growth.

Right now many leaves are still on the trees and have not fallen to the ground.  It may be easier to keep up with the leaves if you do a little at a time.  It will be beneficial for your yard if you remove the leaves before winter.  This will allow the lawn to absorb much needed winter sunlight.

Leaf Removal

If you have trees you know how big of a pain removing the leaves from your yard can be.  But, many municipalities make it easier on you.  In many places you have to bag the leaves, which involves buying the proper bags, buying the special lawn tags, raking the leaves into piles, putting the leaves into bags and then dragging the bags to the curb.  Some St. Louis municipalities offer a leaf vacuuming service.  All you need to do is get the leaves to the curb and they will be by to suck up the leaves.  This is a great service.  It can save you time an money.

If your municipality does not offer a free leaf vacuuming service then you can call St. Louis Lawn Care.  Check here for various St. Louis municipality leaf vacuuming schedule.  We offer a leaf vacuuming service.  Usually the leaf vacuuming service will be cheaper than purchasing all of the bags and special lawn tags for bagging the leaves.  It will also be easier on you, instead of bagging just get the leaves to the curb, give us a call and we will be there to vacuum them up.

We can also get the leaves to the curb for you, if you don't have time.  St. Louis Lawn Care offers a great leaf removal service.  Give us a call today.
