The rain has past and now the grass on your lawn is starting to grow. Remember, don’t let your lawn get to high before you mow it for the first time. Cutting the grass when it is too high will clump and leave excess grass clippings everywhere.

April 15, 2008 Warm weather
It looks like the warm weather is finally here. The lawns are starting to grow, and I can tell a big difference in lawns that were fertilized and ones that were not. The lawns that have been fertilized are greener and have an overall more healthier look.
There is a yard in South County that I fertilize. Before I fertilized it the grass was clumpy and looked un healthy. Now that it has been fertilized the grass is growing and looks much healthier.
I seeded a couple of yards in Kirkwood and University City and now the seed is starting to germinate in this warm weather.
The warm weather seems to make everything better. The trees are blooming and the grass is growing.
It is now the season to be thinking about a lawn service. St. Louis Lawn Care is a reliable lawn care service company that cares about your yard.

May 15, 2008 April and May Showers
This spring in St. Louis has been unusually wet. But, it has give us some deep waterings. The deep waterings help root growth. It is better to apply one deep watering to the lawn than to water for a few minutes multiple times per week. The deep watering encourages roots to grow and develop deep within the soil. Ideal watering is one deep watering once a week. Even in the heat of the summer, one or two deep waterings is better than watering for a few minutes every day.
This rain in the spring shows how beneficial deep waterings can be for your yard. Lawns are growing and looking healthy.
The lawns are growing at a tremendous rate here in St. Louis. If you are unable to keep up with the lawn mowing give St. Louis Lawn Care a call. St. Louis Lawn Care will give your grass a professional looking cut. |

May 30, 2008 Looking Back on Spring and Forward to Summer
This past spring has been very wet, unusually wet actually. The news the other day said that this was St. Louis’ seventh wettest May on record, and that is not even counting the rain we are getting tonight. This rain will keep the grass growing into the summer months we are coming up upon.
Remember that St. Louis summers are hot and humid. When the weather is hot the mowing height needs to be adjusted. Mowing at a higher level will shade the ground and grass roots. This shade will keep the roots cooler and will keep your grass greener.
St. Louis Lawn Care is experienced and will mow your lawn at the correct height based on the weather and season. |

June 20, 2008 For Deep Roots and Healthy Lawns
With all of this rain we have been getting in St. Louis the roots of the grass are close to the surface of the soil waiting for more rain. Now that the rain is not so frequent, it would be best to hold off on watering your lawn for at least a week after the last rainfall. By doing this you will force the roots to search for water. The roots will dig deep into the soil and this will establish a good base for your lawn.
If you notice that it is hard to walk on your lawn without taking up clumps of grass, then this may be a sign of overwatering. The roots are not established and the lawn is almost unusable. Make your lawn search for water and this will help keep your lawn usable and strong all year round.
Healthy lawns should be mowed once a week. If you notice that your lawn is not growing enough for it to be mowed once a week, then the lawn may need some more water.
If your lawn is healthy and growing and need a professional lawn service in St. Louis to mow your lawn, then give St. Louis Lawn Care a call. |

June 30, 2008 Summer Weeds are Growing
Now that the weather is warmer, the summer weeds are starting to pop up. These weeds are noticeable in un-maintained areas such as flower beds and landscaping. Removing these weeds can be grueling work. Each weed must be pulled out from the roots to prevent it from growing back. By clearing the weeds from the landscaping and flowerbeds, your property will have a much cleaner look to it.
St. Louis Lawn Care offers services to remove weeds and debris from various landscaping and flowerbeds. St. Louis Lawn Care will remove the weeds and dispose of the debris for you. |

July 23, 2008 Replenish the Nutrients in the Soil
The mass amounts of rain that we received this past season in St. Louis has depleted the soil nutrients. If you notice your yard being overtaken by brown spiny grass then a fungus has gotten to your grass due to low nutrient levels.
Many of the yards that I fertilized during the spring have fought off this fungus because the lawns were properly fed. Even if you did fertilize your yard in the spring you may want to apply a summer fertilizer application to replenish the soil with vital nutrients.
St. Louis Lawn Care offers a wide variety of fertilizer programs to |

September 14, 2008 Aerate and Overseed
I cannot stress enough how important it is to aerate and overseed in the fall. Overseeding is one of the most important things you can do for your yard. Overseeding will help thicken up your lawn and fill in bare spots in the grass. During the stress of summer and the pounding a typical lawn takes the grass will eventually die. It is important to replenish this dead grass with new seed each year to maintain a full healthy lawn. St. Louis Lawn Care uses only the best grass seed when overseeding to ensure thick growth without weeds.
Lawn aeration is also crucial to a great looking lawn in St. Louis. During the year the lawns soil gets compacted. This compaction prevents air water and nutrients from reaching the roots of the lawn. Lawn aeration breaks up the compaction in the soil to allow water, oxygen and nutrients direct access to the roots.
Call St. Louis Lawn Care today to schedule lawn aeration and overseeding. |
